Hey guys,I'm trying to make make a shaloren marauder work.
I know the race is pretty much the best and the class is pretty decent too,but I feel like I'm not playing it good enough and I'd appreciate it if someone would post a guide or just give me some general guidelines for what to go for.
In fact I'm not even that good at the game so any tips/guides or anything that would help me get better at ToME would help.
Thanks!

Ogre is the best race for marauder because Naloren + Flexible combat with flurry + GWF + Momentum HURTS. Also inscriptions. Timeless doesn't work with unstoppable anymore.
In the early game you raise STR first and DEX second. If you have bad luck with con gear then maybe a few points into con if you want unflinching earlier. Just realize that as a stat it is worse than STR, DEX and CUN. Your main stats will be STR, DEX and CUN and you can dumb the rest into WIL/CON
Wear massive (or heavy) armour ASAP, hit things in the head. Marauder doesn't have defences before bloodthirst besides armour. Riot born is great, consider getting three points fairly early there. Also have a movement infusions. You will have two stuns right of the bat so use them! You will want untoppable as soon as it becomes available. Heroism + Unstoppable (+ regen) combos great, it will keep you alive if you didn't manage to kill anything while unstoppable.
Later on, marauder is a top three melee damage dealer class that annihilates enemies. They have a chance of one-shotting Elandar even on insane.

One remark: Windblade is a very good alternative to Flexible combat. To really get the most out of Flexible Combat you need gauntlets with excellent effects On Hit, and especially on lower difficulty settings (where you find much poorer equipment) that's not a given. It tends to appeal to expert players who play on Insane, where you're drowning in orange equipment and where enemies have so many HP that even windblade is not enough to one-hit them.
Windblade on the other hand is simple and great, especially for the more casual player, you can't go wrong with it. Having an area of effect attack makes many fights a lot quicker and easier. On normal difficulty a windblade typically destroys everything in sight. The cooldown is quite low, too.

You are right in that windbade is better or lower difficulties and you got the reasons right too and it's certainly not a bad choice. However, windblade also tends to promote bad playing habits: the fact that "it destroys everything on sight" is true on normal BUT you should still try to minimize the monsters in your LoS at any given time.
Also handwear is often times a good pick for a merchant randart anyways and they have a high chance of giving you something really nice.
