ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I stopped playing the game for a while and several months ago I updated the game. Within 10 minutes of starting a new game I started getting spammed with LUA error window pop-ups. I tried reloading, starting new games etc...all gave the same result. The game was unplayable as my screen was always filled with the error pop ups constantly. I left it alone for several months, and just updated the game again (it d/l 2 patches) and bam with 10 minutes of playing, same thing. Started a couple new games, same thing. I cannot play this game now for more than 10 minutes without getting spammed with LUA error windows. Am I the only one getting this? How do I fix? Apparently you can't uninstall and reinstall the game because it was never installed, it's just a self-contained folder with some files that you can replace with the same folder with the same files, I guess?

Step one would be posting in bugs forum with the error message and your system details.

And the game is actually two folders. One contains the game, the other contains save files and config settings. A problem in either could be breaking things.
