Beyond the flesh + "ranged weapon" ?

Reading the in-game description of Beyond the flesh, I newly noticed in quote: " ... while a ranged weapon willl fire at your target whenever you perform a ranged attack ..."
Not sure if this part exists all along( No acording to wiki), but I was always assuming a TK weapon is melee-only, and grabbing a ranged weapon won't make sense for mindslayer anyway. Nevertheless I put it to test, and the result is interesting: you can't TK wear ranged weapon (arrow or shot), but you can TK grab a bow or a sling (which does nothing at all).
So I'm honestly curious right now, what kind of "ranged weapon" is it talking about?

I think it is talking about a feature of the class that didn't work.

pretty sure the wiki is MASSIVELY outdated, but yes, it can hold pretty much anything, that qualify as a weapon, as far as i know.
bow
sling
daggers
mindstars
maces
staves
axes
swords
...
and gems obviously

When wielding a ranged weapon, and you have a similar one in the TK slot, you fire both at once.
It uses two ammo, of course, but is otherwise as insanely awesome as it sounds.

so, you effectively gain double attack speed?
what about using other talents?

Indeed is. Somewhere around even is the thread that claims that using Steady Shot applies damage mod to the TK weapon, too.

It indeed does, and other archery talents work as well with a TK weapon. I just rolled a skeleton adventurer to use this advantage, and as soon as I found a second bow, my double Steady Shot could easily score some 170+ damage right in the starting dungeon.
The offensive possibilities are endless - how about a double Scatter shot, used with Surefire (range 9) and some other bow (range 6), which could double the area affected? I yet have to test it, but if this works, it would be OP as hell.
