Newbie Question - Exploration Mode

Whelp, dozen characters all dying around lvl 20, I'm getting kind of frustrated with not having unlocked anything new lately. I'm looking at Exploration mode in hopes that I can unlock some stuff, but I don't want to do it if it doesn't give me credit or unlocks.
What's the deal?

You know, there's a mod that unlocks all the unlockables. But, if you don't feel right about doing that...
I wouldn't bother with exploration mode. Keep doing normal adventure mode, try some new classes, have fun with it and learn from all your deaths. Drop off cool items you can't use in the shared stash.
Sometimes you have a string of bad luck too. I'm playing most characters in nightmare now and getting them to the East mostly, but my most recent character was a Doomelf Demonologist who died in normal for the last time at level 5, pretty embarrassing. Next character I played after that is getting good items and not running into ass-pounding rare monsters.
Is there a common theme with your deaths around level 20?

The only common theme really is 'get blindsided by something and die'. Like I'll open a door and there will be four giants who all simultaneously throw boulders at me, breaking through any shields or defense buffs I have up. It mostly feels quite random, which is what's frustrating.
My last best run ended when my lvl 22 Wyrmric stepped into the Temporal Rift, not realizing you couldn't warp out. I made it to the two chronomancer bosses, and got murdered. Otherwise I've had what I can only chalk up to bad luck interactions.

How about Adventurer mode. You only get a few lives.

You can unlock new classes and races in Exploration mode, so go ahead.
As for your problems, it sounds like you might have to learn to scout a bit better or have better ways of escaping. Also, the temporal rift can be very tough for some melee classes. That's just something you have to try and learn.

Honestly, after dying once or twice to some bosses like Celia or The Master, I'm glad of my decision. I'm having a ton of fun playing this game and building characters, and only feel like running through the initial content once per character!
I also downloaded an add-on that grants unlimited respecs - I always loathed making a second character to try a different build, or getting lucky with a two-hander drop and feeling like all my pts in shield skills were wasted. I loved the game before, but now I'm absolutely hooked.

Alternatively, you could make your own thread to ask the question, rather than posting the same thing on multiple other threads.

Why not? This is a good thread for it. Unfortunately... I don't think anyone knows the answer.
EDIT: After a little digging...
"All donators get access to a few special features in-game when they are logged in"
My assumption is that if you pick the minimum amount, (I couldn't pick any on my phone, for some reason) you'll get donator features. So yes.

Yeah, middle of the
donator page confirms any amount gets you the basic features: "The basic donators features (all those above) are rated as 60 Voratun Coins (but worry not, even if you can only donated less you still get the basic donator features, I am a nice evil god of darkness

)" (1 euro = 10 voratun coins) I know that just buying the game on Steam gets you the basic features but no extra coins, so it's possible that 1-6 Euros gets you the basic features, and everything past that gets you coins.

Eh. Personal opinion is it's
generally not a great idea because it can lead to your message getting lost, cluttering other discussions, may encourage thread necromancy, etc. So not the worst thing in the world by far, but not ideal for anybody.
