Ridiculous damage bug

I have received 1027!! blight damage in Old Conclave Vault, by a normal - not boss/rare/elite - but just normal degenerated ogric mass.

I consider it beyond ridiculous, since there is no way my 23 level character could have survived such a hit. Furthermore, I had 15% blight and 7% all resistance.
Does this just happen randomly or is it bug? Previously these ogric masses were doing like 20-30 damage. Again, it was not elite or rare, but rank normal level 38.
The game was Nightmare Roguelike. The log doesn't mention any talent use, just hit for 1027!! blight damage.

Was this the mob that has Reflective Skin? I don't remember the name, but if it was that mob you may have taken a lot of reflected damage if you hit it with a strong attack.

No the character had no such strong attack. Besides my last action before the 1027 hit was using regeneration infusion. In case of reflection the log clearly mentions it. But log just says the degenerated ogric mass hits char for 1027!!! blight damage.

only shaloren have cooldown reset in their racial, and no talent has been used so it couldn't be catalepsy.

I'm not aware of any negative statuses, though there is message in the log about 4 turns before the hit:

Degenerated ogric mass diseases char.
Char is lost in despair!
Char is afflicted by a rotting disease!

So there probably have been diseased status. After that there is hit by rotting disease of 28 blight damage. Then there is a regular hit for 35 mixed damage. Then "something" hits the char for 24 blight damage twice - two turns, I also hit them in between. Then char overcomes the gloom. Then it says char is free the rotting disease just before the 1027 hit.

Based on what you described, it sounds like Catalepsy cast from offscreen.

It says that degenerated ogric mass killed my character. If it was offscreen from a boss/rare, it would be mentioned in the log. The mob was level 38 rank normal, previously doing 24 or 35 damage, quite far from 1027. I just wonder how a normal mob doing 20-40 damage per turn could just produce a hit of 1027 out of nothing.

Don't confuse a mob's bump attack damage with it's talent damage. It may have been hitting you for 40 damage per attack, but Catalepsy can do a lot more damage if you had multiple diseases. Most of the mobs in the Conclave Vault have talents regardless of whether they are rare+, so this may have been a defiler mob.

if mob used a talent, it would have shown on the log right?
and from row said, there were no talents used.
also, while "virulent disease" takes no time to cast, ...
lets check a believable source... tome tips
94 in 6 turns... thats 564...
and catalepsy does 166% ... 936.24...
wow.
yeah that are stats with 100 SP and 5/5 in both ... but with a decent +%blight no impossible i guess?
if it was lets say 60/turn base damage, +50% could do that.
but still, it was not on the log right?

also, i am going to say something crazy.
1% chance for a 10000% crit anyone?

Normally it shows in the log if you a mob uses a talent, but if the enemy was outside your light radius it might not have shown it. It still shows the mob name in your death message though.

shouldn't it still say "you are diseased" or something?
the disease has ended before the damage was taken.
if it was "ended because of catalepsy", it shouldn't have that much power left as it was already there for a few turns.

If you aren't going to supply a log all we can do is speculate and nothing will get changed.
But since this is in the general discussion forum, not the bugs forum, maybe that is what you were after.
