ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I'm taking a 14 hour international flight with an 11 hour stopover in 2 days, and the obvious solution to this impending boredom is to binge on Tome and experience everything new I've missed in the time I've been gone!

My problem is that omg somethings really wrong, I'm getting below 1fps even on the menus with the background off. My laptop is hardly a gaming laptop but it has pretty good specs and it runs diablo 3 and dota 2 at 60+FPS on medium.

Is there any kind of known issue that could be causing this?

Its usually unsupported shaders. Disable everything in the graphics options!

the shaders are usually the culprit yes, and i seem to remember seeing (both in play and on forums) certain unidentified memory leaks mainly surrounding the new chronomancer trees, but can't at present remember if they had anything to do with aforesaid shaders
