Add-on to Character in progress?

Also, is there a way to get add-ons into game already playing? Because that is one big thing that when start a character if there is any add-on made it seems bad that it can only add on new characters? Like I just added the resustain addon which i'm glad someone made (much needed, keep finding oh they turned my stuff off), but how do I get it to work for character already made? That would be a good improvement to be able to do some things to a character already in progress!

Is there a way to change in game from normal to nightmare or reverse / whatever? That would also be good.

You can hack your save file to add addons to it. Its generally not a good idea as it can break the universe.
There are some instructions around somewhere. But its just adding it to the list of addons inside your save file.

Altering the difficulty should be pretty safe. You would just have to find the difficulty flag in your save and edit it.

i shouldve put this in add-ons to request one that does this.

i see one thread asking how to hack them back in 2012 with no response.

but I'd think this would be a good addition to the game to be able to do this.

i see the part of the file to hack, the only problem is what program should I open the file with? If I do Word, even if I make no changes and try to save it, it says it removes some something, and then when I try opening the game, it wont. also I see ascii code in the file not just text so maybe that is what Word screws up.

what should I use? I see the spot where I can type in add-ons, I just need to be able to save it and rezip it and have the game not refuse to load it.

Try word pad, if that doesn't work I'd suggest notepad++

Apparently I'm stalking XND, as I seem to be without thinking responding to all his posts.
