ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hi, don't know where to post this, so I'll be doing that in GenDis, today.

Problem: When ToME boots, I can't see any video, it's basically a superimposed chunk of whatever is active behind the ToME window. I've had this issue with multiple other applications, I think it's realted to this horrid notebook's lack of OpenGL support past a certain build or something. DirectDraw or just old OpenGL is preferable, but I'm no expert, I just know that I get a blank screen with a cursor & some sound on startup. Any insight on how to work around this is obviously much appreciated. Below is the video portion of my DxDiag.

Bugs forum might have made more sense, but it is likely an OpenGL issue.
There is a free program called GLView http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/ that you can try to diagnose how bad your OpenGL capabilities currently are.
I think you need at least 2.0 to get it to run properly.

Yes you most likely need correct opengl drivers; the game can't work in directx at all :/

Says I have 2.0 & it's 100% working.

The update button brings me to an Intel website (& I have already updated through Intel multiple times & through device manager, I am up to the most current video driver for my chipset) & asks me to select a device. Any insight from here?

Edit: The Intel Drive Update Utility is telling me I have an old version of the media accelerator, (Last time it failed to install for some dumbass reason) If I can get this to install, I'll be here to tell you about the outcome.

Edit: So I manually installed the Media Controller Utility update & it didn't do anything to the OpenGL driver. In fact, it didn't do anything @ all. It says it supports 2.0 & that's about all. Is there any way to get compatibility for this PoS notebook? I'm torn up over this. I destroyed my processor on my PC that could actually handle OpenGL & have to replace it.

Try to run the game in safe mode (from the launcher), see if it displays something

Is it possible to use some sort of OGL wrapper or whatnot sorcery? Like the Glide wrapper for Diablo 2 that lets the app trick the game into believing you are running on an old 3DFX card. I'm just pretty desperate to get this to work, even though I'll eventually replace my PC processor. It'd be decent to be able to run a RL on my notie as well.

Have you tried uninstalling your OpenGL drivers and reinstalling them? This is kind of a "when all else fails" strategy, but you never know.

I'll try that, but I'm not exactly sure how to uninstall my OGL drivers specifically. I'll poke around.

Edit: WOW, I uninstalled my video drivers completely & am now @ some low-ass resolution - lo & behold: I boot up ToME for shits & giggles & the fkn thing displays.... What kind of garbino driver is this? Can it be a resolution problem or something with Aero? (Disabled, anyway). I dunno. I don't want to reinstall the driver, but I want *not* 640x480 res.

Edit: Welp. I juss changed the res to 1280 x 800 & ToME is displaying, so.....(To hell with video drivers, but I actually need them). Guess I'll have to try re-installing. The current OGL version is 1.1.

Edit: Ok, re-installed Intel Media Accelerator Bullcrap (Video drivers that update OGL to 2.0 & DX to 9.0) & I have the problem back. This is bitchy.

i guess we should let everyone with intel graphics know they wont be able to use openGL with windows 7 cause they refuse to support openGL (both intel and microsoft at this point)

and something else... i called toshiba (which is the only way to get ahold of them other than mailing them), and their "tech" support pretty much just told me i did everything i could and that if any new drivers came out it would be on toshiba's own download page
so right now im convinced there is no solution at the moment (times like this i wish i used ati or nvidia since they already started putting out drivers for this about a year ago when windows 7 first went public)

Basically, Intel are morons. & since I'm using Win7, it doesn't look like I can even use OGL with their shit-stained driver.
