It's funny how, with the number of high profile AAA games set to come out in the next few months, this is my most anticipated release of all.

I'm assuming he's talking about Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
Either way, Ashes is coming out 8 days earlier, it's not like they're competing on the same day

I wasn't aware that Binding of Issac was some kind of Michael Bay-like entertainment juggernaut that destroyed everything in its path. Seemed more like a kind of cool rather niche game I didn't feel like buying.

Well, on rebirths first 3 days of pre-order it sold more than tripple the number of copies that Dead Rising 3 sold on its launch day. So I wouldn't call it niche.

Technically, niches can be of any size, as long as they still involve fairly particular conditions.
I know Isaac gets called a roguelike, but I doubt there's much direct competition with ToME.

It is released on the te4.org dlc page now but not on Steam

If you buy it here, you can still just place the DLC file into your addons folder even if have the Steam version. It worked for me, creating a new character now.
