Any advise?
An advance thank!!

Option 1 - Hit & Run and whittle him down to nothing -
Let's Play ToME Steam Edition - Skeleton Sun Paladin - Episode 34 - End of the Game - Check my video around 29 minutes, and note that this was before the recent update.
Option 2 - Spec out to kill him -
Garkul's revenge (talent),
Disperse Magic; I assume also
Summoner

Make a marauder. Max out skullcracker. Get 100% crit rate and lots of Crit Mod. Get Garkul's Revenge. Get a helmet with bonus skullcracker damage. Pop Unstoppable so you don't kill yourself. Headbutt Amathon. Collect loot.
Like so...

Option 3: Be a summoner and kill him at level 30ish. Just send a pack of drakes in and rotate out war hound (physical debuff), turtle (shields and heals), jelly (equi regen), and whatever else. Just dont use Ritch or Rimebark as they will be pretty useless.
Most important thing is keep your drake pack in there as much as possible, they are immune to his aura and fire talents and will surround him so he cant close the distance on you. Save frantic summoning for when your drakes are dead or almost dead to keep the pressure on him, instead of on you.
no special gears or talents or gimmicks required. Just stay outside of his beams range so he cant hit you.

I couldn't help but notice there's that 1 prodigy that increases your damage vs constructs by 1000%(!).. yes 1000, not 100.
It basically looks like "kill amathon really easily and do virtually nothing else" The prodigy.
Although...Does his reflective shield do 1000% more damage to you as well then? That could be a problem =P.

I also note that I was using rings of misery with my recent Skirmisher winner, and I regularly had him saddled with "stunned by the gloom" and, iirc, "confused by the gloom." So he may not be immune to gloom "insanities," even though his wiki site says he is immune to virtually everything.

I've found (at least on normal), that there are two primary elements to reliably curbstomping him.
1)Have a way to deal with reflective skin. I've only once curbstomped him without bothering about it, and that was just on a sunpaladin that simply had no end of shields and could afford to occassionally just sit there and wait for cooldowns to exhaust. For most things, not yanking that down will just end up in too much reflected damage to survive alongside his attacks. The more offense powered your build is, the more this is critical, though if you're enough of a defensive tank, you can ignore it (few things are that defensive).
2)have 60 percent or higher fire resist. Preferrably 70. This nerfs an enormous amount of his attacks. He still does a lot of damage, but this makes the difference from 1 shotting to 10ish shotting.
I've not spec'd out once beyond fire gear to face him, and have several wins over him on a variety of characters at this point and found those to be the most important parts. A teleport can be nice, but he's usually really good at finding you and this lets him use his Rush, which let's him get off some physical damage. The most successful 'hit and away' I've had is with a rogue with hide in plain sight being able to re-hide, and then rest unseen after marching away. I was rather surprised actually at the first try win on that rogue.
Also, what Jenx said totally works. And pretty quickly.

Dracos is right about teleport and run away. This works with most bosses but fails hopelessly with Ata. What DOES work though is distracting him, so tentacles, summons, treants, thought-forms etc. If you hide when he is busy with these, he seems to lose track of you.
And above all else, turn off ALL autouse functions. this is one situation you really want to micromanage. Even instant use talents, you will want to use at precisely the right time.

When I fought Atamathon on my brawler, I got barbequed by the retaliation damage. Combination kick destroys the reflect damage sustain, axe kick reliably shuts off all his talents because he has no confusion resistance, exploit weakness can work on his resistances, and grappling is as good as always but you need +size gear to get up to big.
A sufficiently powerful biting gale rune might be good because spellshock eats his resistance, and halving his stun resistance isn't too bad either since defensive throw is free stun attempts. A good thermal torque of psionic shield is definitely helpful if you plan on unleashing large salvos of melee attacks on him. I probably could have beat him if I remembered to use mine.
