ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

[Phrasing this very carefully so as to avoid spoilers...]

So, that one quest in the far east where you have to acquire two particular items. Can I... *ahem* humbly petition that after you've obtained the first item, the quest log should maybe subtly hint that you ought to go back to the quest giver to find out where the second item is? `Coz I just spent months tearing my proverbial hair out on that point, and ultimately had to go source diving to find out what to do.

Yeah, I couldn't figure it out either my first time. I only found out because I forgot about the quest and I was just randomly clicking on houses in the far east. I doubt many new players manage to figure it out on their own in a timely manner. This should definitely be changed.

I was left scratching my head the second time I went to the east as well. It had been long enough between trips that I completely forgot.

This has gotten me too.

*whew* I was actually a bit worried everyone was going to be all, "Well, duh, what did you think you were supposed to do, dummy?"

The journal entry needs to tell you to go back to Zemmy and say they didn't have one in stock.

That's pretty much what I was going for. What I had in mind was something like:

Quest log wrote:<quest giver> can <do a thing> for you.

• You have found <first item>.
• There was no <second item> in <place>, as <quest giver> said there would be. Perhaps he knows somewhere else you can find one.

Haha I wasn't the only one then.

I have to say, I never had any trouble with that part. But, given that item #2 isn't present, and that it never tells you that you didn't accidentally miss it, I can understand the confusion. Many of the quests have not been very clearly layed out, and maybe this one could benefit from a clearer quest update as well.
