Steam version, linux, and addons.

So I just wanted to test if the steam version runs on linux, and it does!
But. While my subscribed addons show as such in steam workshop, and steam did download "workshop content for tales (...)", they don't show in game, and in main menu the message "Retrieving addon information ..." or however that goes in bottom right corner just repeats itself over and over. Also I heard the game stores your chars in steam cloud now, but my char from windows didn't show up on linux..

It sounds like the game is failing to retrieve info from Steam.

You are logged in to Steam when trying this?
(I know that one is stupidly obvious, but you never know)

Yeah, logged into steam, and logged in the game.
Did anyone else try playing on linux through steam with addons? This is the critical question, because if it works for someone else, there is a high chance I just did something wrong.

just tested the linux steam version with addons...

subscribed to the shut-that-dog-up mod on the workshop, steam downloaded the file

then booted the game, and it registered fine, loaded the addon ('Retrieving...' - worked fine) and placed it correctly in my addons list...

created a new character with the addon and all worked fine... ;)

you could try it again maybe?

Are you running the game from inside Steam?

It started working once I updated the steam client to beta version.
