Would it be possible to restrict the number of rare categories that can appear? I'm pretty sure that, lorewise, he does /not/ have a legitimate reason to be there.

In a town in which
major demons can be simple citizens, it is not surprising to see necromancer becoming guards i guess

Lorewise, you have no way of knowing that they are anything other than a tough guard.

Are you suggesting that, say, a Zigur protector cannot detect the presence of a Necrotic aura?
I doubt most Last Hope citizens have much awareness of it, but a someone who devotes their life to magic (or the eradication of) ought to have some awareness to it.

He doesn't appear to have been burned at the stake yet, so I guess he knows how to avoid Zigurnuts.

For that matter, I just made a Cornac Corrupter. Shouldn't the town of Derth have done something about me, rather than let me learn such magics?

What's worse is havig a Necromancer strut about... Withe their minions in tow. I suppose they just have a lot of apathy nowadays...

With the orc threat about I wouldn't mind having a guard who gets stuff done, be it either necromancer or a demon.
Besides, if the local witch doctor fails saving a person the necromancer is the next guy you turn to in hopes of bringing your loved ones back.

Considering the Witch doctor is probably a sham, the Necro seems like the best bet. And he's probably going to betray you.
The Zigur, though... they'd probably burn you for being a "sympathizer". Because only monsters can love. Filthy arcane-tainted abomination.
I'd prefer a guard that can guard to a guard that can look like a guard.

...depends. If I'm a level 1 villager, with no weapons, armour or skill...
It'd be understandable.

Pretty much. I mean, the Ziguranth HAVE to have a rough idea of where angolwen is by now and they should be able to get in via wyrmic burrow, but they don't. Why? Linnaeal (sp) in all her god-draining OP glory. And if the antimagic specialists won't go after the uber-casters, why should some random townsfolk go after any.

The Zigur didn't go after Ukris, either. And they /tell/ you where to go...
I don't recall any effort in them putting a stop to some... other mages either.
And it's their mission to destroy the Arcane... A villager has to worry about other things, not battling demon-worshipping monsters.
