If you really don't want to lose them you can just move them to a different directory...

I'll just throw out the old ones.
It was around a 12 second delay for the Load window to pop up.

Should delete them anyway. They're probably taking up close to a gig of hard drive space.

Most of that saves are likely to be from older versions and not fully compatible any more.

No, there's also a fundamental issue still afoot---even mine takes awhile to manifest/freezes the program into a temporary "stopped responding" state on a decent desktop PC and there's only a single character alive at a given time.
Saving is fine, but bringing up the Load from a fresh instance of the game always has this wrinkle to it.
