Antimagic staves

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but on my current playthrough (Necromancer) I found a randart staff... powered by arcane disrupting forces.
Is there some use for antimagic magic staves I don't know about?

Transmog fodder.
Challange characters.
My Druid addon.
Causing players to go mad.

They prove the harmony of nature and magic, working together as one.
It's a Zen thing.

Right, so no real reason

I still think it's a bug that you can get "power by antimagic forces" and "+x Spellpower" on the same staff. I have no problem with an antimagic staff if it boosts mindpower and so on, but spellpower should be mutually exclusive.

I consider them the cursed weapons of tome, since it doesn't make much sense otherwise.

If there were roughly the same number of Arcane-powered Mindstars, then I'd feel better about this.
(Fixing the bug so a Staff could never be Arcane Disrupting would also make me feel better.)

I maintain that these are given out as gag gifts at mage parties.

Bear in mind that you get these things from snakes that use bows and patches of ivy that keep trying to rush you with their shields. Maj'Eyal is a weird place.

I am already used to them but I agree that they don't serve much of a purpose.

It's obviously an aborted Ziguranth conspiracy to flood the staff market with cheap, defective anti-magic staves.
...at least that's how I thought of it.

I'd like to see random arcane mindstars.

There's also Guilt (I think that was the name), a tier 2 or 3 mindstar with +12ish spellpower, apparently created when the mages tried to restore life to the Abashed Expanse, if I remember correctly. Wonder what the ziguranth would think of that thing.
