Can someone please explain how amplification works?

I have a lvl 42 solipsist, and his amplification ratio is 74% at 1/5. at 5/5 this rises to 101%. What does this mean, and is it worth it?

I am not sure where to put my generics. I have dream forge at 2/1/1/5, Dreaming at 2/3/0/0 and Mentalism at 1/1/0/0 and Feedback at 1/5/1/1.

I have studied the code to figure this out. The amplification per cent is how much of incoming damage is counted as feedback. So if I am hit for 200 damage and have 75% amplification, my feedback rises by 150, up to my feedback limit. But I still take 200 damage.
