Request for test, windows users: ToME Launcher!

Thanks to efforts of Graziel we now have a launcher for ToME !

I'd like some playtesters please :)
Go download it from http://te4.org/dl/tmp/t-engine-launcher.exe

3 use cases to test:
- place it in an empty folder and run it: it should download the game and install it, making a desktop shortcut if allowed
- place it in an existing install of V1: it should detect it and say it's uptodate; you can use the options to enable flush-stdout/safe mode
- place it in an existing install of one of the previous RC (1 to 4): it should detect it and upgrade it to V1

Report here please !

Thanks!

I tried it with an RC1 install in cheat mode. It mostly worked fine, but when I tried to open the Lua console I got a BSOD (stop error 3b). This is with Windows Vista x64. The launcher otherwise worked fine when installing into an empty directory.

When running from a SVN install (v1.0.1), it said that it could not find the engine files (they're no doubt different than the target files) and offered to download the latest version, which would no doubt break the installation.

The check is quite simple its just looking for te4-VERSION.teae in game/engines, so it wont work with SVN ; )

Launcher/patcher do md5 checks on files and finish updating only when all of them are ok, so its probably not its fault : P

Ummm... This is probably an insanely stupid question, but what exactly is the point of a 'windows launcher'? You can just launch the .exe like normal, or at least I have been for... always.

.....I have to be overlooking something blindingly obvious...

Its launcher / patcher, so instead of downloading full version of ToME it will download (if you will want it) small patch (ie ToME v0.9.47 RC4 -> v1.0.0 patch is only 114kB) and apply it

Seems to work perfectly fine, at least on my system. :D

The launcher should now download the full version of 1.0.1 if ran in an empty folder, or should upgrade you to V1.0.1 if ran from a V1 folder.
Please test both cases quickly ! :)

Is 1.0.1 out, or does this upgrade to the SVN version? Should standard users be testing this, or only SVN users?

I won't work on RC 4 on my computer at least. It detects 2 patches, but spits out an error and crashes when it tries to download the first patch. "Error: No patchlist file in patch"

I emptied the folder and it seems to be installing the full version of 1.0 just fine though.

EDIT: Installed 1.0 just fine in an empty folder, but trying to update it to 1.1 kicked up the same error. It detected the patch, but same crash happened.

No dont!
Instead jsut run the launcher again, it should *update itself* and then patch the game

When I start V1 of the launcher it downloads and applies the V2 update, then the launcher hangs on restart.

If I then kill the EXE and restart, it has successfully updated to V2 and will either download the game or update as expected.
Pretty stock Win7 32bit setup, the process when hanging is burning up one CPU with no events written to the log file.
EDIT : Same thing happens if I run the launcher as Admin.

Tried that & it didn't work. Downloaded Graziel's new link & it did

Edit: Ug.. tried again & now they both seem to work. Except they finish on a blank window I have to force shut it. Next time you load it, it says it's up to date though.

Tried it on a new folder, it downloaded something, then went to a blank screen. Had to force shut-down for it to run again (it was "not responding" at this point). Its downloading tome 1.0.0 now, but shouldn't it be 1.0.1?

I'll try it on my existing 1.0.0 folder as soon as its done.
