Lost a character, any way to bring him back?

I had a level 26 character suffocate in some water(I had a bunch of extra lives so I didn't really worry; just wanted to test out how far I could get on just the basic air supply). Eventually the character suffocated, and since I had an alchemist, I immediately started controlling the golem.

I then saved and exited, as I had some work to do and I figured I could get back that position when I loaded (my golem was still alive and I wanted him to run around for a bit before self-destructing). However, when I got back to the load screen, my character was no longer there - instead, I found him in the high score table as a dead character, even though he had lives left.

Is there any way to bring characters back? I.e. from editing the save folders or something? I had a good run going and I'd rather not have to do all of this again from scratch, at least not right now.

Edit: Thread title might be misleading, as I have since discovered that the character might not even technically be "dead". More details can be found in the thread I made in the bugs section: http://forums.te4.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=36280

Oh, and for reference, here's the entry in the character vault: http://te4.org/characters/27549/tome/2f ... ad9a4c49c3

The stats seem to confirm that I had lives left (Lifes / Deaths 4 / 2), but for some reason he just seems to have been marked as dead and has vanished from the loading screen.

You should definitely post this in the Bug Reports forum.

Ah thanks, I just posted it there. At first I wasn't sure if it even was a bug (thought it might have been an intended feature) but after testing it out on a few more characters and reading up on how the resurrection system is supposed to work I'm pretty sure it's not intentional design to have characters "die" like this.
