New AI always targetting escorts?

I don't know if this is a new change to RC1 or not, but it seems every enemy goes straight for the escort. This makes it impossible to protect the escort when there are several ranged/magic casters (such as dreadfell), as the enemy will just ignore my character and only attack the escort. 3 archers spread around in a room? It's an instant loss as a melee character.

I've seen melee enemies walk around my character to get to the escort as well. This sucks because low dps characters like bulwarks can't kill the enemy fast enough. And the escort (being a retard) will keep walking forward.

Edit:
I just spawned with an escort in a big room with a vampire, 3 drakelings, 1 drake, and 2 archers. The escort died within 2 turns. In B43, I could move forward, and have the enemies target me. But now, they just walk right around me and attack the escort first.

Yeah, this is especially bad if you run a melee char. Walk along a longer corridor with an escort behind you - when a ranged creature shows up (a Skelly mage f.ex.) from the other side of the corridor, it fires straight through you at the escort. You can't even reach that dude before your escort dies.

Not sure, I'm playing cursed RC1 and haven't noticed notable changes with escorts. Managed to save all but one in the west.

The single-minded targeting of your weak allies also seems to occur in the Subject Z / Wayist fight. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get Subject Z to switch his attention from the Wayist to me. In previous versions, getting in between them and stabbing Z in the face used to work.

I'm not sure how the AI prioritizes targets at all. Would be nice to know.

Didnt change at all (every few turns actors will think about switching targets, but random is random)

And the "whole level is aware of me relentlessly" is fixed

Great to hear, some of my low-level chars have been suffering immensely from this recently.

Not nessesarly, random isn't equal distrubution. It's entirely possible that they went for your escort a lot more than for you. Because it's random.

Pseudorandom number generators generally approximate a normal distribution (when examined over infinite iterations because statistics). I think you're meaning to say that over a limited number of iterations you will not necessarily get a normal distribution, which is why it sometimes feels like the PRNG is against you.

I think you mean uniform, not normal.
