Amazing game

I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this - this game is utterly amazing.
My roommate told me about ToME one day, that it was a roguelike. I'm thinking "Sweet. I'll give it a go until GW2 comes out." I've played ADoM, Dungeon Crawl, Elona, and a slew of other roguelikes. I checked out a screenshot and went "...Wow. That's... Pretty epic looking." I started to download the client, and cracked up when I saw the filesize. I showed my roomy and he made a joke about how it's mostly art assets and sound effects.
Anyway, back on topic. Rolled an Alchemist, played. Died. Godlike.
Played some more. Went through more characters. Amazing.
Unlocked a class. Wait. What? You unlock classes? YOU UNLOCK CLASSES?! YOU UNLOCK HORRIBLE CLASSES WHICH TAINT THE EARTH AROUND THEM AND ARE FUELED BY RECKLESS HATRED FOR ALL WORLDLY THINGS?
...Yeah...
This game is amazing. The first time I hit the arena, I was stunned by the cheesy power chord metal, and how awesome it was to unlock it afterward. Really. Amazing game.
I guess I made this post because I went to donate, and realized I'm drained until my next payday. I generally pirate everything in sight, and never donate to indie games because I feel they are lacking.
...This game is not lacking. You guys rule. I'll be shoveling some currency your way to show my support for your -excellent- efforts to make a great roguelike. Please keep the features/classes/races/unlocks coming.
Sorry to sound like some kid marking out at Christmas, but seriously. This game is boss.

Hi and welcome!
DarkGod often says this type of post is in part what keeps him going. Note that it's only in beta but approaching v1 fairly rapidly now.
The end game.lore is also amazing.

This game is indeed amazing. The game logic shows a large amount of work, and is fertile ground for adding new classes and situations. There is fairness builtin in the way that you fight all classes, with all classes. It is pretty balanced, even with really really different classes.
Some time ago when darkgod had to unfortunately make use of his blurred mortality, I remember looking at the car picture and thinking "Well that would have been one of the Internet's finest things gone."
The graphics make it not just accessible, but beautiful. The careful display of the right amount of information allows for unhindered thinking. The replay value is nearly infinite, in a time of trivial, simple games with expensive graphics.
And I haven't even won yet!
Kruniac you say you can't donate right now. I have been in that situation, but this thread is a good reminder to do it. I was planning to donate and your post was the final push. Thanks.

I can't tell you how many times I've been wandering around somewhere and a Summoner starts pouring out creatures. Or a rare mold of some kind starts mindblasting me into oblivion. Just amazing. I guess the only thing I wish would be that the game had random encounters of some kind, but that's not too big of a deal.
And yeah, right now I have a zeroed checking account. When I actually get some work done (...by not playing ToME

), I'll be sure to support this game. It's just one of those few really -great- indie games that could use the support of it's community.
My roommate and I are in the design phase of a game, actually. It's freaking awesome games like this that work to inspire us. Anyways. Thanks again for making such a boss game. Now I'm going to try and unlock a class, and hopefully I can before the day is up - I have coding to do! XD

I agree, and my own two cents are far overdue for this wonderful game! I almost never donate to anything, but I am a donor for this game - in fact, this game alone is the entire reason I have not dropped $60 on Diablo 3 yet! I also don't plan to get D3 until I'm bored with TOME, which at this rate will be when D3 ends up in the $10 bargain bin at EB Games!
Changeable difficulty levels, richly developed races with unique talents and even different starting quests, VAST amounts of lore to discover and learn, UNLOCKABLES(!), in game chat(!), and even pretty good graphics, I cannot think of anything this game lacks that could make it better... Even my 10 year old daughter enjoys playing (exploration mode is a GREAT way to get a kid into roguelike gaming!)
Personally, I actually feel proud to have gotten into TOME on the ground level (been playing since TOME1, back when it was middle earth), and watching it develop has been a joy.
Now I feel like I need to give back more than my donation; maybe it's time I wrote that summoner guide I've had bouncing around in my head....

I won't speak for Darkgod but for my own time and effort put in... I'm glad you guys are having so much fun

Release day is like christmas to me. It's when I get to see all my hard work pay off as people get to check out everything we've been working on

We need more guides and contributions of this nature
