ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I'm playing the latest version of TOME on my iMac (thank you, whoever made the build!) and I'll have access to a portable mac soon. As I'm new to the whole apple thing, where and how can I find the save files so I can play the game away from the house?

Save files are in:

users/YOURNAME/Library/Application Support/T-Engine/4.0/tome/save

You may want to grab some other files as well if you are switching between computers, I'm not sure.

My only Library folder is in the root of the Macintosh HD device. I don't have a Library folder under my username folder.

The Application Support folder also does not have a T-Engine folder.

I know enough about PCs to be able to fix most anything my kids can break on them. Macs... not so much. I'm glad to see they're just as annoying when you really want to get something done, though!

ANYhow, I don't even know if I've properly installed the bloody game. I just downloaded the "t-engine4-osx-1.0.0beta38.dmg" file, moved it to my desktop, and click on the thing when i want to play it. This creates a "Tales of..." device that I have to look into to find the T-engine executable. I feel like I missed a step. Is there a proper way to install the game for one-click play that would also generate the folders and such that would contain my save games?

Extract the application into a location, preferably the Applications folder. Also, next time you run the game, right-click on the icon and set it to Keep in Dock. Most other OSX applications follow the same scheme.

Hmm, not sure why your user library isn't showing up, it should be there. Generally, to install an application, you drag the icon into applications (or wherever) from the disc image. You may want to create a containing folder for the application (to put the readme/licences etc... in with it).

As for finding your save, it must be somewhere else, but I'm not sure where. I tried finding my saves (which I know the location of) using Spotlight, but it didn't work for me, though it may be worth trying anyways.

The library folder in you home directory is hidden. Under the "Go" menu for finder there is an option to "Go to folder". Select that and then type in the file path and you should get to it. <Shift><cmd>g is the keyboard shortcut for that. And there should be a / in front of users. Hope this this helps.

You might have better luck with a Terminal search. Open terminal and enter something like: Took a couple minutes, but that eventually found it for me.

You could also just open Finder, go to the "go to"-menu and hold the alt key to show hidden items. At least that worked for me. After my girlfriend showed me...
