ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hi, I've been trying to record this game using CamStudio. However, the game eventually freezes and stops moving. Apparently, I can still move around and attack because I can hear the sound effects, but the game just doesn't show any change. If I minimize and maximize the game, all I get is a black screen. Trying to X out of it doesn't help either; I have to go to the Task Manager and get rid of the program there. Am I doing something wrong? Why does the game only freeze when I'm trying to record it?

Completely unqualified opinion here*, but it'd be fair to guess it's got something to do with T4 sometimes being really finicky about both stuff running in the background (apparently especially video-related material) and not being the focused window, so you could be running into either of those. What you're describing is what happens to me whenever I leave T4 unfocused for a while, so I'd guess it has something to do with that.

My best suggestion would be to try some other recording software and seeing if the problem persists. I know folks have managed to livestream without much trouble, as well as upload youtube stuff, so it's definitely possible.

*This computer's too weak to record video, apparently, so I don't have any practical advice. Fair warning, heh.

I've had no problems with Camstudio. I'd suggest you check how much RAM and virtual RAM you're running, and see if you need to upgrade your video drivers.

Also you could check the CamStudio forums/knowledge base to troubleshoot.

I decided to try HyperCam. The game didn't show any problems after one hour, so I assume that it was successful. Thanks!
