Hey, I've heard that indie developers draw strength from praise, I figured I may as well mention
a blog post I wrote about ToME 4, mainly focusing a few things I think are awesome about the class system. New personal blog, not much traffic yet, but hopefully someone finds it cool/nifty/useful.
The short version (i.e. for someone who knows ToME 4 already): I think it's a great idea to use a variety of resource types as one of the main differentiating factors among classes. For instance, I mostly play mages, and I think it's awesome that I don't just get the generic mage, the healing mage, the debuffing mage, and the field control mage; I get all those, PLUS the addition of Mana, Positive/Negative Energy, Vim, and Paradox, respectively. It really makes the classes feel more unique

For instance, there are four separate pure-mage classes at present, which differ both in their spell selection as well as their source of energy. These are the Archmage, powered by the traditional Mana; the Corruptor, powered by Vim, or the life force of their enemies; the Anorithil, powered by the power of the sun and moon, Positive Energy and Negative Energy; and the Paradox Mage, “powered” in a way by Paradox. As I mainly play mages, I will be focusing on these four classes. I also feel that the similarities in their underlying concepts will help to demonstrate just how refreshing ToME 4?s variety of classes can be. All of these mages have some ability to deal damage, heal and defend themselves, restore their energy, and control the battlefield, but their spell selection and

Great article

I'm glad the paradox mage playstyle panned out the way I had envisioned it. I'll have to post a link to this blog on facebook.

Oh yeah, great job with the class, edge

. I think Dimensional Step/Gravity Spike/Gravity Well collectively do a lot for the class's field control potential, and Static History/Paradox Mastery are a nice way to let players choose how much they want to gamble. And for what it's worth, I myself tend to go with a build that emphasizes keeping Paradox low, even as I'm unloading a lot of spells.
