Mindslayer Strategery

Hey all, recently unlocked this class, and to be honest i'm having a bit of trouble getting past the first dungeon. Any tips?
Also - it seems you can use telekinetic grasp on just about anything, even if you don't have the stats for it (such as a dwarven-stell greatsword i found at level 2). However, I didn't see the damage output changing really at all as compared to wielding an iron greatsword. Anyone else see this?
Over all, the damage output even with beyond the flesh seems a bit low for dual wielding two handed weapons.

My best results so far are to ensure I have at least kinetic and thermal shields, and focus on keeping 30 Psi so that i can blast away a baddie with spiking my kinetic aura. My problem is in mobbing. if my Dominant Will fails, I tend to get into trouble.

First, your mention of "Dominant Will" indicates you are trying a Yeek Mindslayer, not any old Mindslayer. The Yeek is a difficult start for most classes, so you might want to try a non-Yeek Mindslayer to get a better feeling for the class. The details for psionic-wielding are currently found in the descriptions of two talents, Telekinetic Grasp (TG) and Beyond the Flesh (BtF). In particular the BtF description tells you that Willpower and Cunning will be used in place of Strength and Dexterity, respectively. TG should probably check the requirements based on those stats, though...

Anyway, make sure you are actually sustaining BtF. Have points in all three shields and don't forget to spike them if you get into trouble. Shields are instant talents, so you can have it un-sustained and use the talent twice to instantly spike it, too. This can be important when facing some particular foes that deal a rare damage type that you don't need to be protecting against the whole time. Further details would be risking spoiling, so feel free to start a thread in that sub-forum. Good luck! :D

heheh for some reason i thought you had to be a yeek to be a mindslayer...thanks.

yeah i think something with the damage is definitely screwy.
1) will and cunning in the low 20's
2) wielding an iron greatsword and grasping one as well
3) verifying beyond the flesh is active

I'm hitting stone trolls in the troll mire for 0-2 points of damage.

My winner yeek mindslayer was doing less than 1 damage with its starting swords at level 1. Basically I rerolled the character until the RNG granted me an ego sword...

yeah doing MUCH better now. i can see the allure of Channel. I have to say though the text surrounding it made me think it worked differently than it does.
I thought aura damage was applied to weapon hits only. Seems that anyone attacking me takes the damage as well. I'm sure this is the intended effect, and I'm certainly not opposed!
