ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Does anyone use this spell? I put one point into it to check it out, and the bear dosent attack it just stands there taking hits. Is that all its supposed to do, be a pure meat shield?

Bear's attack speeds are super low, so it will seem like a meat shield when comparing it to the higher lvl npcs/higher class because they are at base speed or greater.
