Wands, and their uses(?)

OK, so, I'm in the maze, right? And I just lost 3 runes/infusions to the last 2 fire traps. So, I decided, "Hey, why not try using some of these wands of trap disarming, since they're just gonna get exploded anyway?"

So, I stood adjacent to the next fire trap, and activated an elm wand of trap destruction (4/4). I got a selection thingy, which I guess means it doesn't do all the adjacent tiles, or all the tiles in line of sight. I clicked on the trap with the mouse. And... nothing. I failed to disarm it, and lost one of the charges.

So then I tried again, and... nothing. Now it's a wand with (2/4) charges, half used up, and it hasn't done a damned thing for me yet.

I guess I'll just walk through the traps like I've been doing anyway.

The trap destruction ones seem to be awfully useless, I agree. I wonder if they take into account the player's cunning (which for some classes is next to useless), or if the quality of the wand equates to skill level. My experiences with trap destruction wands is the same as yours.

However, wands of teleportation are a godsend. So are healing. In fact, my 50 zerker is going to farm up some solid wands of healing before the seemingly impossible endgame (with runes/infusions leastwise).

Hey DG, did you disable item destruction in the latest beta, or only in the dev release. just curious if I should be looking for exceptions while playing.
