Online profiles have multiple purposes:
* To let players automagically transfer unlocks/achievements/… from one computer to an other
* To let players display their stats on the web (currently in development)
* To give me stats so I can enhance the game
So I compiled a few fun stats today, my first ones!
Today as of 01:00 the 15th september 2010 and since the release of beta9 the 14th august:
* 437 online profiles registered
* 414 online profiles that logged on more than once
* A total of 184 days, 11 hours, 44 minutes and 7 seconds have been spent by all players inside ToME4
* The deadliest monster of all times is ………. the RATTLESNAKE ! Closely followed by the forest troll
Voila! Have fun! Enjoy ToME4 and T-Engine4 !

dang rattlesnakes!
any reason why my "profile failed to authenticate" whenever i try create one? its not a huge issue, but i do love this game and if my stats help improve it then that's great! (running 10b)
keep up the good work

Probably your name, login or email already exists I guess, can you try with some different name/login ?
(I'll remove the name uniqueness restriction I think it's kinda silly)

I told you snakes were OP. xD
Also... I was wondering about the trolls. Normally they'd be fine, but why stick them in the starting area? They're about 3 times as tough as anything else that can be found there, and certainly aren't uncommon. Granted, it wouldn't be called the trollshaws if it didn't have them, but they seem a little powerful for a starting zone.

there are much worse things in level 1 trollshaws sometimes! ive encountered a multi hued drake and some blue mage orc thing that both kill me in 1 shot haha

I actually think the trollshaws should be only snakes, rats, wolves and trolls. Mostly forest trolls obviously, but I would keep the stone trolls. Only allow elite trolls to be the only OOD mobs, and increase the rate of wolves and trolls. Really make it a 'watch the corners' dungeon. It's fine now, but that's what I would like to see it become.
As to the stats, what else can you compile DG? I wasn't even aware you were able to gather information like that with the profiles. It's really rather cool.

Zaive, it really depends on the class one's playing. When I was a wizard or an archer, trolls were cool. Certainly not overly dangerous if one was paying attention. Now I am sending tons of shadowblades to their death, and suddenly trolls are TOtally dangerous. My characters now run the other way -- fast! So yeah, it's all a question of perception.

Currently I record unique deaths, character deaths, artifacts found, all those can be slpit up but character race/class/difficulty

An "average max level reached" per class would be nice, to know if some classes seem to have more chance to survive in the long term.

Then we would need the distribution and not only the mean. Because some classes have trouble early on, but then tend to get strong and thus reach high lvls (resulting in a "double bump" distribution).

Love the stats DG. Is there a plan to make those stats viewable on a website in the future?

I'm assuming with the release of beta12 we'll be able to brag?

On a related note, it keeps telling me I keep unlocking the same achievements when using a profile (level 10, 1000 mosnters, etc). Is that expected as of now?
