Levitation

What does levitation do? If I recall correctly, it allows one to walk over water without drowning, right? Shouldn't it also allow one to walk over lava without getting burned? It's a bit annoying that every time I use my fire breath I create lava and end up burning up all my scrolls passing over it, even though I'm levitating. Possessing a baby multi-hued dragon, at the moment, and levitation seems to be a natural bonus in this form.

It does a few things:
- prevents damage from trap doors (but notably doesn't prevent you from actually dropping a level, unlike most other variants)
- prevents slipping on icy floors
- allows you to cross "dark pit" terrain
- prevents drowning on "deep water"
I'm not 100% sure if that's everything, but I think so. (There's a few other things related to overland travel, but it's stuff that follows from the above. E.g. player is prevented from entering "deep water" overland tiles because it would be instant death.)

Thanks for the info. I'll have to see if I can figure out a way to hack in the ability to go over lava without taking damage. Knowing that it prevents slipping on ice means I can finally go visit the Helcaraxe. I've wanted to check that place out forever, but it's just such a pain with the slipping all over the place.
Any suggestions as to which monster I should possess when it comes to the submerged ruins so that I can breathe underwater and still have some decent combat abilities/spells? That's another place I've always wanted to check out.

I'm pretty sure the Watcher in the Water breathes water and it's a nice body. I think it doesn't have a lantern slot so make sure you have light from somewhere else.

The helm you get from one of the quests has random bonuses. Breathe underwater is common. Then all you need is a head to wear it on.
