SVN Ego Issues and Imabalances

The balance stuff is of course just my personal opinion. I'll start with the bug first ;)

Quick weapons and ranged weapons of speed.

One of these gives a negative and the other a positive. So one is wrong. Also slings of speed do funny things (since they have no speed value to modify I presume).

Resource Leech

Voracious (a ranged ego), Parasitic (staff), and Insatiable (weapon) all need to be commented out.

Specific egos
Ammo
of Sunrise - Fires beams. Completely marginalizes Piercing Arrow talent. The fact that it changes the damage type is really neat though. I don't know that the small ammo pouch size is going to do enough to balance the free piercing arrows though.

Ranged
Penetrating - Teaches you the Piercing Arrow talent. This can appear on slings but piercing arrow requires a bow to use. Otherwise it seems pretty neat, maybe just move it to the bow ego file and add a sling only equivalent in the sling ego file.

Phase Shifting - Changes the arrow into a beam and makes your damage crap. I don't like this one because it completely marginalizes the Piercing Arrow talent and because I don't know that people will really use it. It's one of those egos that's so powerful it has to be balanced with a draw back that makes it useless.

Spellstriking - 30% chance to cast Disperse Magic on hit. A no save effect that removes three magic based sustains from the target feels pretty powerful. I might put this one on an artifact but I'm not sure it belongs on an ego.

Diggers
Quickening - Still lets you use a sustain which of course doesn't work. Maybe just have it grant the spell speed attribute if desired.

Also I found the new ego resolvers pretty difficult to decipher. If Sus did a better job of explaining them in an email could we get better documentation? Or at least if I could get a forward of the email so I can try to decipher it a bit I'd appreciate it :)

Lightning daze conversion can never daze because the daze damage is applied first, then the physical damage, thus breaking the daze instantly.

For weapons, basically every ego is trivial except the special on hit procs, and sometimes the Damage Against bonuses and crit multiplier bonuses. But the rest? +2 accuracy and defense on a voratun weapon? 1% global speed? 2% cold resist penetration? +3% physical damage? +2 physical power? Those types of egos need a huge buff, like x5 just to even matter, and x10 to be comparable to staff egos.

Diggers of Quickening doesn't let you use the sustain talent; it's over ridden by the dig use. It simply replaces the icon if you drag the digger onto the hotbar, which is a nice touch.

I *just* generated a voratun longsword in the trollmire with +6 accuracy and +6 defense. Keep in mind this is a green ego for one and for two I generated it at the worst possible depth I could have. Blazebringers can hit 6% global speed. Probably not in the trollmire but it does happen.

I'll double check some of the numbers on other stats but keep in mind that a staff is a single weapon. The weapon egos can be doubled up on and that two-handed weapons now get an ego bonus (staves do not).

Also realize that I didn't set out to buff egos (which would lead to buffing artifacts... again). I set out to make them more interesting and offer more through put through out the game. Eventually the drop tables will be modified so that greater egos don't show up until later in the game (or at least that's the current plan). Yes the current egos in the SVN are weaker than in b39 from a pure power gamer stand point but this also benefits the player (less damage in take from weapon using npcs).

As to Lightning Daze, maybe the daze on this should take effect on game tick end. I'll have to talk to Darkgod about it.
