ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hello!

My name's Dondy and I've been playing ToME4 only quite recently. My experience so far in playing and interacting with the community has been pretty awesome.

I want to talk about this 90's rougelike game that I used to play called Ancient Domains of Mystery or ADOM. It's a very popular game in this genre and had been one of the major pioneers of rougelike culture according to what I've read.

The German creator, Mr. Thomas Biskup and his team has just recently created a funding campaign to continue the development of ADOM.

I was just a kid when I started playing old rougelikes back in 2001 but ADOM got me hooked the most.

Unfortunately, the author entered real life and left the game development stale a decade ago. Now he's willing to go back and develop the game once again. In order to do he needed funds, and so he's asking for your pledge support.

I hope I'm not breaking any rules by advertising a game of the same nature as ToME4 in these forums. I'm just trying to help the developers of a game that had been part of my lonely childhood out of sentiment.

I also don't know how much, if ever, did ADOM influence modern rougelikes like ToME considering the similarities on both of the games' depthness and plotfulness but I do beleive that the contributions of ADOM on the rougelike games' popularity paved way for great rougelike games like ToME4 be developed.
