There's a #tome on both networks.

I tried to post when I was not logged, nothing seemed to happen, if I was wrong please delete my message.
Anyway:
I just wanted to say hello to everyone that hangs on #tome. I used to be there, but since a while I've had internet problems, and as a result I can't use irc anymore (I am behind a proxy that won't let me through).
Not that I'll be missed

, but I must say that I miss being able to connect to #tome.
PS: special note for Ingeborg : *hug*

I prefer irctoo, but 'other' was not an option. Good to know about the two networks, though.

Remuz, you could try to find a web irc interface somewhere. I'm unaware of any that you could use rightfully to connect to Tome, but it wouldn't be such a bad idea in the future, perhaps.

As you saw, yesterday I found a way around the proxy (double ssh, then running the irc client in the console rules

), but today the server tells me that I've been banned because I am using an open proxy that could be used to send spam...
So I give up for now, thanks a lot for the help anyway.

Running a client on a computer outside the proxy was a good idea. Too bad it that host was an open relay. Perhaps you could find someone else willing to host it. Why would a proxy server block irc, by the way? Trying to cache irc traffic seems like a bad idea anyway. Perhaps switching to a new isp would be a good idea?

GAIM and irssi both grok HTTP proxies, so that may assist in getting you out.
