Floor inscriptions

I was just curious about how many of you actually use those floor inscription magics. Personally I don't even know how they work.
How important you think they are and would you like to see them in Norseband?

They don't work.
I chose the "they're not my thing" option because they are currently broken. Any activation of the inscription, be it by you or by a monster, will cost you extra turns. If it weren't for that, I'd use them a lot more, as they'd make useful traps.

Well, I've heard of them, know how they work thanks to spoilers, but haven't bothered trying them. A couple of them sound useful to me, but I'm too lazy to remember the words, much less actually go to the effort of inscribing them. I'd not miss them at all. Then, I wouldn't miss item traps and runic magic either. Guess it's just not my style of play.

I frequently use the illumination inscription with warriors.

Illumination mostly, and sometimes others (rare)

What Hunter said. I'm basically too lazy to remember how they work and to use them. I used to be the same with Nethack, I could count the number of times I've bothered to inscribe Elbereth on one hand.

I have known of their existence through accidentally pressing the x key, but what do they do? How do they work? illumination might prove useful...

Ditto.
The illumination inscription is extremely useful if my character can't cast Light some other way (which is almost always true with the characters I play) or still hasn't found a decent radius light source.
I usually forget to use the other inscriptions, but they do come in quite handy at times.
C'mon, folks, if you can remember how to cast a spell in ToME, you can use an inscription. It's really not rocket science. (And you could probably make a macro to help w/ them, anyway.)
[Edit: Description of how to use inscriptions, deleted - I forgot this was General Discussion. Just read the in-game spoilers.]

Macroing is not that simple in case of floor inscriptions. There is a case (I can't remember which, maybe 0 grid mana) when you don't get a prompt to write down the inscription, but macro can't decide this, and tries to write anyway..

Ah okay. Thanks for the clarification.

Ditto for me.
We need another vote option: "I know about them, but never have tried them".

I only use the illumination one until I find a suitable object that can cast light. I have tried the others but found them to unwieldy to be worth the trouble.

Yeah, I've heard of the floor inscriptions and I even read the parchments when I get them, but I've never actually used one. (probably since I've only gotten out of the Orc Caves once).

Can't it, though?
Maybe fodder for the ideas forum: more inscriptions..... (not a huge plethora, but a few more....)
