ToME Wilderness map - big enough for the big boys ?

Do you find ToME's map big enough ?

I believe it is. For now. I don't know about ToME 3, but I feel expanding the map resolution would be a good thing (tm).

Why ?
- Allow more... wilderness !
- Allow more towns (Tharbad, Edoras, Grey Havens, etc.) without overfilling the map.
- Allow more dungeons and special places (Haradwaith - the sandworn lair should be in Harad!, Barad-dur, Osgiliath, Weathertop, Blue mountains, etc).
- Add special features such as roads between important towns : thus allowing low-clvl characters to go from town to town without (or rather less chances) of getting ambushed in the wild. (in the mean time, why not allow boat trips from coastal towns to other coastal towns ?) (ok ok... why am I not rich to pay DarkGod/other_fellow for ToME development ? ;-))

If you wonder, the actual map is available. (SPOILER ! *Don't* go there if you don't want to get spoiled http://www.t-o-m-e.net/wilderness-2.2.png )

Hint: look at the beginning of the Silmarillion, then at the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring. Hook up Beleriand to what's left of it in third-age Middle Earth, and you've got the perfect map.

That's right. Only one map could do for Beleriand and post-Beleriand (Middle-Earth). Cut what's west of Ered Luin and zoop, you have the Middle-Earth map. (Ered Luin have the same name on both maps because it is the same mountains)

Well, A map of Middle-earth with Beleriand would be good for the Annals of Ea module, and a map of Third Age Middle-earth would be good for the Arda module.

I think the ToME map should stay as it is, whilst these other modules are in development.

I really like the idea, but don't mind if I play the role of the devil's advocate. What's the point of having more towns if there are the same buildings in every one? And what's the point of having more wilderness, if you can cross from edge to edge it just ten seconds, provide you have a backback full with pieces of raw meat? For all that matter, all the dungeons and towns may as well be stuck in a 10x10 grid.

The buildings aren't the same though.(Caps/contents).

Where's your sense of adventure??!! :P

I think BlackSmurf's idea (from the aWESoME module) for creating towns that do not show up in the overview map of the wilderness is a really elegant solution to the 'overfilling' problem. I mean, places like Rivendell and Henneth Annun (and other hidden/small places) really should not show up on the map as towns since they aren't really towns.

It's not possible to use a bigger map in the current ToME, is it? (increase maximum x and y coordinates, that is)

The maximum map size is 198x66.
