This addon is to add three new Cornac race options: Gifted, Experienced, and Stunted.
All three of the new options are just Cornacs with some birth modifications.
The Gifted get a straight 20% XP boost. Sometimes you just want to try out a class that isn't viable for you in the early levels. This gets you through those a little faster but also brings all the implications of fast leveling, too.
The Experienced have an XP penalty that means you will hit level 42 around the time you would normally hit level 50. Reaching past level 42 will be VERY grinding, but you get all of the stat points, class points, and generic points of levels 43 - 50 at birth.
The Stunted are a challenge race that have an XP penalty of 10%, -1 to life rating, and -1 to all stats. This is for the not-so-faint of heart.
More may come in the future, but that's all for the initial release.

Re: Humans Extended - More race options
If possible - and fairly sure it is - why not make these generic birth options that can be applied to any race?
So you could be a Stunded Yeek, Gifted Higher...and so on.

Re: Humans Extended - More race options
That is a good thought. I will play around with these initial sets and see how well it works. If all is good, I will branch out and see about creating some other birth variants. Perhaps this should be randomized after creating a new char, similar to how artifacts are randomized.

Stunted Yeek, wow
This is a cool idea, thanks for making it.

Experienced is good to start on Insane difficulty. Level advantage of monsters completely cover that exp penalty and a boost to stats/skill is also nice. =)Dinre wrote: The Experienced have an XP penalty that means you will hit level 42 around the time you would normally hit level 50. Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.

How balanced do you think these are?

Re: Humans Extended - More race options
I think these are not well balanced at all. Experienced turns out to be practically a challenge class, and stunted is hard as heck. Gifted is easy mode.
Of course, in a roguelike, I think balance is the last thing we should worry about in our addons. The question I have is this: are these fun? I think Experienced is fun to play, but the other two... I'm not sure. I actually think Stunted needs a more interesting handicap.
