Alchemist Retires because Mage Hunters are stupid.

I do 5000 elemental damage to Orc Mage Hunters and they don't die when the typical level 50 normal enemy has about 1k HP, and I can't do another 5000 elemental damage to them because they've mana clashed all my mana away. They can't actually kill me, though, even if they manage to slowly poke my Golem to death, but reasonably speaking they really shouldn't even be able to burn my mana considering my Mental Save is 2 tiers above the Mental Attack of a typical example.

Resolve working with Rank 5 AMS up is completely imbalanced. Anti-Magic scaling off Physical Power is completely imbalanced. I don't know if I care about getting a mod to fix this because I'd have to start a new character to use it.

Well, you could deactivate your infusion to deal phys damage and not get manaburned nearly as much.
And also so the mage-hunter wouldn't get resistance.

Mage-hunter are stupidly annoying against some mages true, but they're still killable, like everything else.

That wouldn't help *too* much, I think. I'd lose a lot of damage because I wouldn't have my fire damage and fire resist reduction mods. I also don't have any other source of physical damage to follow it up with, so I'd need to lure the Mage-Hunters into corners, hope for a crit, and avoid getting Mana Clashed in order to even have a chance of one-shotting them, and if I don't one-shot them then I'll get Mana Clashed and wind up in the same situation again.

The thing that really stops me from being able to just overwhelm them with damage is Mana Clash. Whenever I get hit with it I just lose all my mana and I don't have any strong mana recovery mechanics that will let me recover from it, so my strategy was to dump as much mana as I could as fast as I could into my hardest-hitting spells and just smash through the AMS. Turns out I can put out a *lot* of damage when I do that, but since AMS is free to sustain these days that just doesn't seem to matter.

Now that I understand just how much of a pain Mage Hunters are, I think the solution I'd have to go with is to spec my golem differently. Instead of actually investing into the magic half of the golem tree, just float points in Eye Beams until I'm level 20-something and then dump everything into the combat tree.

EDIT: Looking at what I could do differently, I noticed that Dissolving Acid removes positive Physical and Mental effects and Mental Sustains. Does that include AMS? Vitality? If I can remove even one of those, I think that will shut down the defenses of the Mage Hunters long enough to kill them, although that's unfortunately not possible on this character.
