Character in Progress - Psiblade only Psyshot on Insane

Being inspired by one of Mankeli's characters that I saw in the character vault, I decided to go ahead and create a psiblade only Psyshot of my own. My reasoning for this build is that the boost to mindpower that Psiblades provide alongside the mental save reduction from Superconduction/Psionic Fog would be incredibly useful for having Inner Demons land and proc to make up for the damage lost with Psytech Gunnery. I also wanted an excuse to use Action at a Distance more heavily given that most of the other Insane Psyshots I've seen have mostly neglected the tree for straight steamgun damage.

As it stands, the character's doing pretty well with Inner Demons maxed, as once I get the condensate/superconduction/nightmare/inner demons combo off most randbosses die pretty quickly to their own demons. The main issue with this build is psi, as Inner Demons is resource-intensive and without Psytech gunnery there aren't too many low cooldown steamtech skills. Vaporous Step is particularly amazing for psi regen, as not only does it cost no psi it's instant to use and both the activation and teleport count as steamtech powers for the Gestalt activation. I imagine that with maxed Gestalt it will be much easier to sustain my psi pool, though I'm keeping Instant Channeling as a panic button for an instant infusion of ~30-40 psi.

Current game plan is to max Superconduction for its mental save reduction before investing more into the Gestalt tree, with generics going to ogre racials, armor training, and leaves' tide. I'm unsure of what to do with my level 20 category point, as Dread would see minimal investment given that Lucid Shot is a no-go, Avoidance is more steam intensive than I can currently afford, and an infusion slot might not see much use. PES is definitely going to be a prodigy, though I'm divided between Superpower and ICCtW for the mindpower and PES boost, respectively. Any advice on class/generic/category/prodigy point expenditure is welcome, as well as advice on what tinkers to work towards for midgame.

The funny thing is, I've had more success with this build than I have the various gun builds I've tried. The above character did end up dying to a unique fire drake and my own stupidity in dealing with it, but it's currently my only character who's cleared the majority of the t2 dungeons on Insane. This build struggles with prolonged fights up until level 15ish, where Inner Demons starts to contribute its fair share of damage and you can focus more on keeping the Seared debuff on enemies and staying alive. Condensate -> Superconduction -> Mind Drones (psi regen and lowered immunities) -> Nightmare and Inner Demons is incredibly powerful against groups, making the massive groups of enemies that spawn in Old Forest and Sandworm Lair much more manageable.

There's still a lot of stuff I want to test out, like investing in Psionic Fog more for lowering saves as well as Uncertainty Principle or using No Hope alongside Mechanical arms to make bosses deal pitiful amounts of damage, and I'm tempted to write a guide for Psyshots if/when I get an Insane win with one.
