Well, as I promised in another thread, I got my Yeek to level 40 and she seems to be doing very well.

Points to note, I am wielding Moon and Star but really, my Dex is not that high and compared to my Str I would probably be better off dual-wielding some of the stuff in my home. Still I like them and since I have never had the pair before its good to show off a bit.

So my plan is to finish off all the side quests I can and then do the main stuff.

At this stage I am finding that my healing infusions (one of 450 and one of 550) and my targetted Phase Door has made it impossible to kill me, although I will admit to having a few narrow squeeks! 8)

Early stages (on the Yeek Island) where characterised by an awful lot of stair-scumming and King George VI moments... Bone Spear was my main weapon there (especially for its beaming ability) along with Rend and Dominant Will. Bone Spear is still useful at TL5, doing some 145 points of damage which is useful when all else fails for distance shots and especially with the Shade at the bottom of the Tower of Telos.

The mid-game was characterised by more stair-scumming and swearing but not as much as the start. What is interesting was that I have not made use of the combinations that are available to me because of my double heal.

The end-game has begun and I am now starting to use Epidemic and distance attack combos so that I don't expose myself unnecessarily. I am still stair-scumming but I now have a little more confidence!

I agree with whoever posted about Orc Patrols in the East, seriously nasty, and I now run for the nearest safe point (town/dungeon) or 'p' - although a 'p' is not guaranteed to beat an orc patrol. The Orc Patrols where what persuaded me to start using distance shots!

And finally, the lack of rapid distance-closing stuff like Rush makes me awfully exposed to Archers and Spell-slingers. Most of the time this has not been an issue but on occasion it has proved to be a real pain! I am toying with putting up a Speed rune - I haven't yet made the decision but have a spare category point so it is a possibility. I'll see how I go.

As to the dump, I have snipped out the Last Messages, some of the Inventory (so all the infusions and runes I have just in case I have to rethink things) and all the Wands, which I don't use anyway!

What in the HELL does epidemic actually do? I ... have played a LOT of reavers and I still can't figure out what it does.

It's taking a Rend and 3 hits to kill some Orcs with Moon and Star - really because my Dex is not high enough.

I have the Spellblade and in my house I have a Slimy Voratun Waraxe of Massacre - this is what I will switch to since a Rend and 1 hit does the same deal.

Epidemic & Cyst burst is what you are after!

I don't need Rush. I have Bone Grab so belatedly am putting points in there. I am constantly amused at how slow I can be!

So I am now Level 50...

Bone Grab is a 1 point wonder. Doesn't do much against Mages but allows me to kill archers immediately! So Bone Grab, then splat! Way cool!

So I'm beginning the process of clearing the Prides (Vor is gone, I am 3/5ths of the way through Rakshor.) I have picked up Limmir's Quest so I think I will get that out of the way after I finish Rakshor. Then I will clear the other Prides.

Tactically things are getting slightly more interesting. Mostly I am just hitting things, using Rend and if the situation is OK doing Bone Spear. Bone Spear is now doing 287.4 damage and of course it beams!
Master Archers now get grabbed with Bone Grab and hit, taking them out.
For Mages I am using Bone Spear, Virulent Disease, Drain, and Cyst Burst and Controlled Phase Door rune. Rinse & Repeat.

Running through all this is me hiding lots, so I only face one foe at a time.

I am actively considering use my spare category point to put up another healing infusion. I currently have 2, one of 600 and one of 500, and I just picked up one for 450. As a side tip here, I would suggest you NOT use regeneration infusions if you have a healing infusion of similar size. Having 500 HP coming back over 5 turns is nice, but the number of times my healing infusion of 500 HP instantly has saved me is numberless - especially in the East. Why am I considering a third heal? I am now getting into fights which are using 2 healing infusions a lot...

As usual I have snipped the infusions, my wands (I actually used on once - amazing), and of course the last messages.

As for runes/infusion:
Regeneration+shield works wonders, and can be combined with speed or wild.
I am currently using one regeneration+2 shielding runes (+speed/wild).

Benefits of shielding vs healing:
* Shielding does not consume a turn
* You can use it immediately (pro-active) allowing it to recharge for faster use in the same encounter (you use on average 1.5 shielding for 1 healing in the same encounter: heal on turn 5 vs prot on turn 1)
* Shielding does not consume a turn

Benefits of regeneration vs healing:
* Regeneration works over multiple turns, and can be used pro-active. This means more use out of it during encounters.
* Regeneration is a heal over time. HoT's are great for keeping your character at full health. This is specially good in situations where you can get a lot of damage in one turn (or multiple turns while stunned)

Congrats on the char. Now enter cheat mode and take him to the infinite dungeon ;D.

BTW does this mean you are in a good position to balance some of the skills? Looks like the class could need some attention if the game is that hard (stairscumming).

Alas, poor Bububu, I knew her well!

She died in the final fight really quickly swamped by multiple summons, etc.

I wasn't causing any damage and I got hit at one stage for 760 damage.

Early game was characterised by a lot of stair-scumming. Mid-game she swept all before her. In the end game, the lack of cover, the limited amount of damage, and the anti-PD/Teleport is what did her in. Along with not having high enough resists!

Still it was fun! :mrgreen: No snipping this time since she has died.
