[RC1] Addon 'problems'

#1 Post by Crim, The Red Thunder »

Game appears to be randomly rejecting addons, despite previously reading them as acceptable. Has so far occured with both The Opt-in Adventurer's addon by zizzo (The RC1 version), and the infinite500 addon (Also the RC1 version).

Chatlog informs me this may be a specific error with the game itself, rather then the addons, hence this bug. Strangely, it appears to 'sometimes' read the addon as acceptable, then decide on a later character, or even just a later load, that 'the add-on version is bad'.

.....Help?

What specific errors are you getting?

Check the te4_log.txt file (in the same directory as the game executable) for messages regarding addons, in particular any messages starting with "Removing addon."

Only Lines I can find that refer to 'removing addon' when checking a fresh log file, doing nothing but loading tome.

Only ACTIVE addon in this example is infinite500, and i receive a red message in game log that tells me something about 'a bad game addon' or something, mentioning the infinite500 name. I have had same issues previously with optin adventurers, though after turning THEM off, while leaving infinite500 on, everything worked... for a while. Then it stopped and won't start working again.

Is it safe/allowed to post the log file? I can send you the whole thing, both from this clean start, and the long one from last night if it helps... (and is safe and free of harmful information...)

You don't need to post the whole log, just the part(s) with addon messages. From the log you posted it looks like I500 loaded OK ("Binding addon" message), but that opt-in adventurers did not ("not allowed by savefile") probably because the game was saved without that addon loaded.

First try redownloading both addons to make sure you don't have a corrupted file or anything and try again. If the game is recognizing them OK, from the addons screen you should be able to get a green "Auto:active" status for both of them. If that fails, post the desc.lua file from the game save directory here (just to see what the game is trying to load with the character.)

just redownloaded opt in adventurers and your infinite 500. We'll see how this goes, turning them both on again. Opt in prompted to overwrite the existing one, but yours actually had a different filename for some reason... instead of 1.4.teaa, it was 1.4_0.teaa.... Did you update again or something?

Edit: Nope, nothing different. Still get a bad addon message, and am seen (by others, but strangely not myself) as not being validated.

That's from the current log. Still failing validation, somehow.

I'm not sure what other portions would be relevant. If you can tell me what to look for, I can post that section, or the logfile itself... I didn't have any problems when I started using infinite500 on b43, but prior to now that's the only thing I've ever used...

Edit (Again): Further struggles and attempts have managed (for the moment) to get infinite500 (after reloading) and oldrpg to run acceptable in the majeyal campaign. I still can't get the optin adventurers or no adventurers to fuction however, even after redownloading twice.

I'm having trouble duplicating the problem you are experiencing, but am trying a couple of other ideas. What exactly does the red error message say in game?

I downloaded a new version of I500 yesterday. It just changes the log messages to post the correct version but is otherwise identical. For some reason, the server renamed the file I uploaded, but I have verified that the download from the website is correct. Just delete the old one from your addons folder.

For the moment, it appears to be working again. The bug with infinite 500 occured in arena mode, after at least one, possibly several, 'restart same' options on character death. I know i had linking capability when I went into it, but it went away on some later rebirth of the character. I have problems replicating it with the infinite500 addon now as well...

(Though all attempts on all game modes still refuse to work properly with the noadventurer or optin adventurer addon's, so why that one would be 'working' in it's testing, but not for me I don't know.) Is it possible there's something in the build options themselves that might cause any misreading? For reference, I'm running the windows XP build.

Edit: The precise bad message is this, with the addon name changed to reflect infinite500 instead, though as I said, I can't quite manage to replicate that one on purpose again...

"Online profile disabled (switching to offline profile) due to bad game addon version. [addon opt_in_adventurers]"

Said the same thing when infinite500 malfunctioned in the arena, save for the addon version using the infinite500 instead of optin. Same message different addon.
