When you learn the 1st level of a new talent, in its description you can read almost the same text you can find when you try to increase it to 2nd level, showing how it will improve when you learn the second level (between [ ] parenthesis).
Also, sometimes prerequisites are shown in red, even if they are met (see strength prerequisites on lvl2.jpg)
