Addons and loading times

#1 Post by dharthoorn »

Not sure this is a bug or some sort of result from the way the engine handles mods but it seems that the more mods I enable, the longer it takes for the game to load. DUH I know that's normal to some degree, but if my brand new octacore 3.2ghz 16g ram rig starts to choke on a program like ToME for sporting 8 addons for a total of 1.2 megs in total SOMETHING seems wrong.

The count of the addons seems to be the major culprit and loading times increase exponentially.
Some (New Game) loading time facts;
0 addons enabled: ~2 seconds
2 addons enabled: ~2 seconds
4 addons enabled: ~5 seconds
6 addons enabled: ~66 seconds
8 addons enabled: ~800 seconds, RAM leaking(?) up to about 2gig then CTD (probably because its not large address aware.)

Doesnt seem to matter which addons (or the size) are enabled just the count seems to matter. What gives?

Please forgive the overall tone of this bitching rant, and dont get me wrong: I love this game and its a great piece of work. I strive to understand and support. I'm just a bit frustrated is all.

EDIT: URL below links to my log file after the aforementioned crash.

this is probably fixed in next version
[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD
