Hi,
I hope I'm posting this in the right place -- it certainly belongs in the spoilers section, though I'm not sure if I've ran into a bug.
Anyway, I understand that you're supposed to get an achievement when you rescue the Lost Merchant from the Assassins. However, I didn't get the achievement even though I killed the Assassin Lord and saved the merchant.
Here's what I did: when I got to the Assassin Lord's lair, I talked to the Assassin Lord and pretended to promise to work for him (or something like that...can't remember the exact dialog), then I re-positioned myself (to try my best to ensure all the enemies had their aggro on me, and not the merchant), and bashed him with a Shield Pummel to initiate an attack. I managed to eventually kill the Assassin Lord and all his lackeys and save the merchant, though I did Daze the merchant along with a bunch of others due to a poorly placed Repulsion attack. I can't read LUA that well, so I suspect my Repulsion and/or my attempt to deceive the Assassin Lord may have something to do with me not getting the achievement.
Anyone else knows anything about this?

Re: Questions about getting the Lost Merchant Achievement
The fact that you sided with the Assassins ended the quest,so you are unable to complete the other ending (saving the merchant).

Re: Questions about getting the Lost Merchant Achievement
I see. In that case, could this be considered a design bug? I mean, what I did was to betray the Lord Assassin, which ultimately leads to saving the lost merchant. Maybe a way to workaround this is not to grant the quest completed status until after the player has exited to the world map, and evaluate any relevant variables at that point. Right now, it sounds like I may be contacted by the dead Lord Assassin or his representatives in the future since I 'agreed' to work for him, even though he's now dead.Goblinz wrote:The fact that you sided with the Assassins ended the quest,so you are unable to complete the other ending (saving the merchant).

It's a plotline hook for later versions of the game - that is, joining up with the assassins.

I understand it's a hook for future development. What I'm saying is that if the player agrees to work for the assassins, but then backstabs them before leaving, then the player should quite logically be no longer working for the assassins. As one of several logical consequences of this action, it should allow the player to attempt to rescue the lost merchant.Final Master wrote:It's a plotline hook for later versions of the game - that is, joining up with the assassins.
There are several possible ways to resolve this, but I guess it really depends on how the story in the future development pans out -- there's really no need to touch it now. Nonetheless, it may be a loose end for someone to remember to tie up when the assassin plot line eventually gets coded into the game.
