I recommend adding a small bonus to life regeneration (probably in the 1-3 life/turn range) that is only active while resting. This would prevent characters from having to rest for 1000+ turns when they lack life regen on items/talents. From a lore perspective, it makes sense that you would heal faster while resting. This would still be a small regen compared to players' total life and wouldn't be enough to be influence game balance (except maybe fighting a level 1 rabbit in Trollmire or whatever, but that's not difficult anyway).

I support this. The fact that some seem to recommend a point in Fast Metabolism solely for faster rest is enough for me. This would also fix issues like pets also taking forever to rest.

I am also surprised that there isn't an addon that does exactly this, or at least not to my knowledge.

The Improved Auto-Explore and Rest mod that I'm partial to using has you automatically use infusions (and runes, if applicable, such as manasurge) while resting, which pretty much does the same thing in effect.
