Tome 4 or even present version: kill switch

#1 Post by stormbringer »

frustratingly often when i enter a new zone or go down a level in a zone my game will freak out and leave me unable to take any movement or use spells etc. usually; when this happens i can still access the menu through the panel on the right side of the game map. occasionally i get a totally black screen with nothing to do but alt tab out and kill the game with the task manager. then delete a character i have worked hard on leveling and gaining items and finished quests etc.

what i want is a kill switch or a limited revert to last good area option in the right side menu/option box. it should increment the lives left count by one then kill the character so they visit the eidolan plane. thus the total life count is left unaltered. it is not a life count cheat. this seems to always force the messed up level to straighten out and work right upon going back to the material world from the eidolan plane.

aternatively the game could store your position on the last good level and the right side option would be to revert to the stairs or portal on the last good playing field the character was on prior to being stuck in a failed load. this option could be ghosted after the player makes one two or three moves on the new level to prevent cheating. but i am not certain how much coding it would take to accomplish this alternative method.

the first method seems like it should be the easiest way to implement something that would save me and perhaps many other players a lot of grief mourning the untimely and non player caused demise of a well developed character.

That's a pretty good idea.
