Went for something a little different. Started off really badly due to rust (picked up a bunch of useless talents for no good reason and died to a rare like a chump). I decided to persevere though and once I remembered how to play, this build had so much mobility and pin/meatshield tools it ended up being relatively straightforward to beat dreadfell. I think I've had my fill of kiting for a while though!
Did you ask to enter under a different name on the spreadsheet or do I just have a bad memory?
dreast wrote:This could just be extraordinary bad luck with the seeds, but I was poking around and couldn't get any character to generate the Temporal Combat tree. Is this deliberate?
I don't think it was ever added to begin with, I'll check in a little bit and probably add it for 1.0.3 next week.

Anyways, today is the reset day so here are the new trees/seed!
Seed: rollacaster
This adventurer will have the following talent categories:
Corruption / Bone
Corruption / Curses
Corruption / Hexes
Corruption / Plague
Corruption / Scourge
Corruption / Shadowflame
Corruption / Torment
Corruption / Vim
Cunning / Survival
Cursed / Darkness
Cursed / Endless hunt
Cursed / Force of will
Cursed / Gloom
Cursed / Punishments
Cursed / Rampage
Cursed / Strife
Spell / Staff combat
Technique / Combat training
Wild-gift / Mindstar mastery
I know a few people wanted a more casterish build, this one has a few ways to play a more caster focused build at least.
Good luck!

If you do end up updating to include Temporal Combat would you update the White Monk talents as well? Agile Combatant had a fair number of tweaks and has switched to being a class category, Aura of Protection was nerfed, and there were a number of other minor changes. Posted in the thread on the Addons board but didn't get a reply.

Didn't enter under a different name, no - this was my first randventurer. I think we've interacted before though some years ago (either here or in crawl), so you might be half-remembering that?

Insane/Adventure winner with 4 deaths (8 elitism points), absolutely no other addon than the Weekly Aventurer.

Tried three times with an actual corruptor-style caster, and ended up going with the antimagic cursed/doomed hybrid. Got it in one try when I went that route.

These skill trees were so much fun that I decided to do it one more time, now in Insane/Roguelike mode, with no addons, no deaths.
I guess it is possible to count this one into the challenge rather than the previous character (10 elitism points instead of 8 points).

Yeah sure, I was mostly waiting for you to iron some of the balance things out but I'll add it next week probably.

Beats me, I don't remember interacting with anyone on crawl since I played offline. Unless you mean like in #dcss in the roguelikes discord?

Yeah, there were a couple things way out of whack balance-wise when I first updated it, but minmay was quick to point them out and they have been addressed. Aside from possible crazy interactions with 'circular links of pain' and Withering Strike, but I don't consider that a problem on my end and I'm certainly not going to try to prevent every possible exploit interaction in my addons. If someone wants to cheese the game, they'll find a way. If that's what makes them happy, then good for them, I guess. Aside from that, numbers could maybe/probably use slight tweaks here and there, but I feel it is at least as well balanced as any vanilla class and probably more so than many of them.

Nightmare/Roguelike winner

This week was fun. I decided to play as a ghetto arcane blade and rely on staff accuracy bonus + magical procs for damage. It worked surprisingly well. Tuning paradox to 1000 gives you a whopping 150% multiplier for your chronomancy spellpower. I'm also pretty sure that the 150% multiplier is for effective spellpower, which is a clear scaling violation. This obviously gives you a 100% chance of major anomalies, but neither Weapon Folding nor the other Folds it gets upgraded with trigger anomalies. I still managed to lose a few characters to major anomalies early though. Weapon of Wrath also did pretty good damage, although it didn't play nicely with Bone Shield at all. Bone Shield might as well have not been there, since I put no effort into keeping it up beyond autocasting shielding runes/barrier. Same with Second Life, which never triggered even once.

In addition, I did a Let's Play with some contemporaneous commentary. If you want to watch my thought process through the entire three-hour run, check out

Long story short: This week's build was so powerful that even without proper optimizing it smashed its way through everything. Only dangerous moment was joining the Grand Corruptor... no Sanguisage meant no life tap. Mana clash almost ate me. As the above poster, I went bone, combat, and temporal combat to maximize my (short) staff smashing (with unerring scalpel in the offhand to abuse weapon procs further).

Hope I am not too late for the last week. I was trying in Insane/RL during the weekend, but always ended up dying in a stupid way.
When I ran out of time, started an Insane/Adventure char and easily won.
Here is the char (absolutely no addons, for 8 elitism points).
