Rogues could benefit from another unlocked generic tree.

Rogues could benefit from another unlocked generic tree.
Right now, the only generic trees available to rogues from the start are Combat Training and Survival, both of which are available to literally everyone. They also have Field Control locked and that's it. While, yes, Generic does mean generic, this seems like a bit much -- they don't have enough real choices when spending their generic points.

I figure they just have that many more generic points they can spend on Elemental Harmony stuff, or escort trees, or their racial tree (if they're not Cornac), or Antimagic, etc.

Yeah, but they shouldn't be forced into those (especially since escorts are not reliable and Elemental Harmony / Antimagic are meant to be optional.) There should be enough places to spend all their generic talents on stuff that is at least somewhat thematic to them, if they want to.TheRani wrote:I figure they just have that many more generic points they can spend on Elemental Harmony stuff, or escort trees, or their racial tree (if they're not Cornac), or Antimagic, etc.
When I look at high-level rogue builds in the character vault, almost all of them have ended up investing generic points heavily in places where most other character classes wouldn't waste them, simply due to lack of other places where they can be spent.

Oh? I just peeked in the characters vault and did not find the same thing. What do you regard as wasted points?Aquillion wrote:When I look at high-level rogue builds in the character vault, almost all of them have ended up investing generic points heavily in places where most other character classes wouldn't waste them, simply due to lack of other places where they can be spent.
These are the also the only unlocked generic trees that fighters and berserkers (and maybe others) begin with. Reavers only begin with Combat Training.Aquillion wrote:Right now, the only generic trees available to rogues from the start are Combat Training and Survival, both of which are available to literally everyone.
In all the rogues I've played and tested, I've never felt like I didn't have enough places to spend generic points or didn't have a choice. Alas, for most characters, I wish I had more generic points to spend on "Heightened Senses" or "Combat Accuracy".
If you want a rogue that has more options for generic points, then Marauders are for you. I think most people will find they are stretched pretty thin when it comes to generic points. They are a more advanced rogue in ways, so this works for them.
