Arena or Character Import/Export

So recently one of my friends got into ToME, and that got me thinking about Arena mode, or more specifically how a character who becomes arena champion becomes the final boss of future playthroughs. I was wondering if maybe this could be used to generate a file of some sort which another player could import into their game, to allow players to PvP by proxy, or test their builds against others "online" by simply sharing a character file.

This also might be an interesting feature outside the arena, and maybe even interesting extra functionality for the Blood Master's arena (import 2 characters, 1 as an enemy, 1 to play as, no need to worry about messing with the game's progression since it's fully self contained). Some basic import/export restrictions could also be put in place for balance (like requiring the same addons, or requiring the files be from the same campaign as each other).

I don't think this would be very hard to do (probably?), and in fact I may attempt at some point to make an addon to do this or attempt to contribute it to the base game's source code if I can, as I have a pretty decent amount of Lua familiarity from modding other games, and the code for character dumps already exists.

Anyways, I'm putting this here so people can see it and discuss if they think it's a good idea or not, or maybe other specifics like how it would work or where in the game it would make the most sense to put it.

(Also, I think this technically can be done already, at least for the arena mode, but it would require some fiddling around in the game's save folders which I suspect for the average player is probably more effort than it's worth.)
