Steam achievements revamp

#1 Post by McWovitch »

I don't know if I'm the only one, but is there a chance for a rework of steam achievements? Currently, almost 2 thousand achievements combined with screenshots that don't look very inviting for new players, give impression of a cheap achievement-farm game. On top of that, I don't think it's possible to get every achievement, you literally have to beat the game dozens of time on each and every difficulty. I looked through steam reviews and there was a guy with almost 1 thousand hours of game-time having only 9% of achievements.

In my opinion, achievements for higher difficulties should only be for milestones like "Kill the Master" or "Reach Far East", and the rest, like "Tales of the Spellblaze", where you have to buy the lore from the store, "The Restless Dead", where you have to beat a random encounter, or the achievements for amassing a lot of gold, should be more `general` and obtainable once in the game, not on every difficulty.

There would still be a lot of achievements, around 200 (probably more as I just divided current number of achievements by 9 and there would be still some achievements with 9 difficulties), which is really enough for a game. It would encourage achievement hunters to play more and try higher difficulties, and you could actually 100% the game. What do you guys think about it?

Any achievement gained on a higher difficulty can be gained on lower difficulties on steam through the te4.org website. You don't have to play through every variation of every difficulty to get them all.

In that case my point still stands. You can do everything on madness/madness roguelike, and the rest are just to pump the numbers up. I know not everyone likes it that way, but for me it's quality>quantity, and higher difficulties should have only milestone achievements.

i'd remove the exploration difficulty chievos and remove the adventure/roguelike distinction.

Different chievos for different difficulties though i'd keep.

though then i wouldn't be able to say i'm the guy with the most legit achievements with my 78% :p
I write guides and make addons too now, apparently

You can go here for a compilation of everything I wrote, plus some other important stuff!

Includes general guides (inscriptions, zone, prodigies), and class guides (Demo, Anorithil, Bulwark, Zerker, Sblade)
