can't boot 1.6.0

i downloaded 1.6.0. both linux 64 bits versions. there sure is an icon in the game folder, however, it will not boot the game. i get a pop-up saying "there is no application installed for shared library files. do you want to search for an application to open this file?"

i tried a text command in a terminal: no joy.

it's not a matter of obsolete addons as none have been installed yet. not even embers, ashes and cults.

further information: i am running linux ubuntu mate 18.04.3 64 bits.

help would be greatly appreciated. many thanx in advance.

heh it seems we posted our threads almost at the same time http://forums.te4.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=50031. Edit and yeah I get the same error message, it's because the file is recognised as type application/x-sharedlib instead of type application/x-executable for some reason. Previous versions have worked just fine.
