What to put in that arrow-bullet slot for non-archers?
Do any properties of arrows & sling bullets apply when you're not using a sling or bow? Anything useful to drop up there for a fighter or mage? I see things like "crit chance: +1.5%", but I'll bet that only applies if you're actually using the thing via a bow or sling. It probably doesn't affect a sword or much less spells ... does it? Likewise things like "on weapon hit: 40% chance to daze"

Nothing that goes in the ammo slot provides any passive bonuses, only things that affect attacking with it.
<astralInferno> poor stunt

It would be cool if there were super rare (maybe 1 in 10 games you would find 1) artifact ammo that only gave passive bonuses to melee/ magic (they cannot be fired). Just seems like they would be fun to find. They would ideally give small bonuses that most other things don't typically give. Like the random passive tools.
Re: What to put in that arrow-bullet slot for non-archers?
I could go for some sweet hoopak action that would allow both melee and ranged attacks as needed, and maybe on a melee crit or kill would allow you to fire a ranged shot.

If you have Psychometry, then you get some marginal benefit from putting a nature/psionic item in the ammo slot. No other non-archer class has any use for the things.

I write guides and make addons too now, apparently
You can go here for a compilation of everything I wrote, plus some other important stuff!
Includes general guides (inscriptions, zone, prodigies), and class guides (Demo, Anorithil, Bulwark, Zerker, Sblade)

I believe there is a glove tinker that use the ammo slot as well.

There is, the pun named Hand Cannon. I've heard it disparaged as not generally worth it but if one is desperate for emergency weaponry it might work.

This sounds like a neat idea for another melee/ ranged hybrid character. Likely named: Ranger. The general idea would be that on ranged attacks you get free melee attacks within range 2, on melee attacks you get free ranged attacks. To clarify, this character would get alot of reach attacks for melee, range 2 being 2 tiles away from your character. This character would also start with Exotic Mastery (mostly because tridents and whips are reach weapons).Snarvid wrote:I could go for some sweet hoopak action that would allow both melee and ranged attacks as needed, and maybe on a melee crit or kill would allow you to fire a ranged shot.
Since it is a Ranger, it also has potential for light magic casting ability as Rangers in games usually have some Clerical or Wizardly magic abilities. These will probably be locked trees though.
