My axe of fluffy evil turned into a pole :(

So I finished santascape and got this axe, since I have no use of it, I dropped it on the floor in fortress, next time I come back to the fortress the axe become a pink pole, the blade and pink bowknot are gone, I tired some simple ways try to fix it, but failed, so it's a pole of fluffy evil now and forever?

(shrug) Yeah, that happens sometimes. Seems to come and go semi-randomly; I've lost the axe image and regained it later with more than one character, with no obvious pattern.
